Apple announced on Wednesday that it will launch a special ‘lockdown’ feature in the upcoming IOS 16 roll out. Apple said that this lockdown mode is a high-level security feature designed especially only for high-profile celebrities. Once this feature is activated, iPhones and iPads can easily fend off any potential cyber-attacks including state-sponsored cyber -attacks. However, mind you guys, by activating this feature you’ll end up limiting other essential features of your iPhones and iPads. This particular fact, by the way, does not assume much significance for common people like us. That’s because, as I said before, Apple’s lockdown feature is only meant for high-profile celebrities like top politicians and bureaucrats.

Meta sues Chinese firm for stealing FB & Instagram Data
Social media giant Meta has filed a petition in the U.S. court against a Chinese subsidiary firm called Octopus. In the legal petition, the Mark Zuckerberg led company has accused that the Chinese firm has illegally scrapped the data of millions of Facebook and Instagram users. Meta further said that Octopus used special scraping software for stealing data from its platforms. The social media giant wants the U.S. court to impose heavy penalties and also strict action against the Chinese firm for indulging in unethical activities. Third party companies getting illegal or, fact that matter, or even legal access to platforms like FB & Instagram has always been bone of contention for scores of internet users.

China responds to Vivo raid with a Warning
China has clearly expressed its displeasure against Indian tax officials’ latest raid against Chinese smartphone company Vivo. The Chinese embassy in New Delhi said that the frequent raids against the Chinese companies can potentially damage their goodwill in the Indian market. The Chinese embassy also added that it hopes that the probe conducted by the Indian officials is fair and transparent. For those who are not aware, Chinese mobile company Xiaomi was also recently raided by India’s ED officials in connection with a money laundering case. Both Vivo and Xiaomi are among the dominant players in India’s mobile market.

Zelenskyy awards Amazon with ‘Ukraine Peace Price’ (here’s why)
Amazon’s cloud computing service Amazon AWS has fetched one of Ukraine’s biggest civilian awards – the Ukraine Peace Price. Amazon was given this award for helping Ukraine big time in its ongoing war against Russia. The war-hit nation said that Amazon’s AWS service played a critical role in maintaining its digital infrastructure during the testing times and also helped the country in winning the propaganda war against the Russians on the social media platforms. Elon Musk’s company Starlink had also helped Ukraine by providing satellite internet services during the war time. Ukraine President Zelenskyy had personally thanked Musk for this help.
