Google launches a new reasoning model Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking
Google is again attempting to set a higher benchmark for AI chatbot models by launching yet another new model in the market, Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking. Google’s CEO Sundar Pichai announced the news on X (previously known as Twitter), describing it as Google’s most thoughtful model yet. Google further claims that Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking is capable of tackling complex problems with speed and accuracy, positioning it as a competitor to OpenAI’s o1 model. It supports only 32,000 tokens of inputs and can produce 8,000 tokens per output response.

ChatGPT now supports PC and Mac apps
OpenAI has drastically increased the capabilities of ChatGPT by integrating it with more desktop applications on both macOS and Windows. OpenAI had launched desktop apps in November, back then it only supported four apps. But now it supports scores of apps including coding apps like Warp, IntelliJ IDEA, PyCharm, Android Studio. It also supports note taking apps like Apple Notes, Notion and Quip. The integration of these apps moves ChatGPT closer to using computer on a automated mode, using computer for various automated task with minimum or no intervention by users.

Meta is set to introduce AI video editing features on Instagram in 2025. This announcement was made by Instagram head Adam Mosseri, who also shared the preview of the AI editing tool. Users will be able to edit videos by using simple text prompts, they can do edit even without basic editing skills. The tool can facilitate editing like altering outfits, backgrounds, and even character representations in the videos. The tool will leverage Meta’s Movie Gen AI model. Movie Gen AI model is specifically designed to maintain the realism of movements and identities while making edits.
