In a move that could disrupt India’s highly competitive edtech sector, Amazon on Wednesday announced that it is making a foray into India’s online education sector. This new venture will be known as Amazon Academy and it will mainly focus on helping students in preparing for JEE engineering exams. Amazon’s entry in the edtech market is akin to the entry of a ‘big elephant in the room.’ Well-funded players like UpGrad & Unacademy dominate India’s higher online education market while Byju’s & other players like Vedantu dominate the K-12 segment.

Apple could have acquired EV startup Canoo in 2020

While Apple could not or did not wanted to, the tech giant was reportedly in serious talks to acquire California based EV startup Canoo. The Verge first reported the development. The acquisition talks, which eventually failed, was obviously a part of its secretive project to foray into the electric vehicle space. Over the last few weeks, rumors have been rife that Apple aims to launch its first electric vehicle car in the market by 2024.

In the latest backlash of big tech companies against President Donald Trump, Youtube has imposed fresh ban on Donald Trump’s official Youtube channel. Not only has Youtube removed a new video uploaded on Trump’s Youtube channel but the account has also been banned from uploading new videos on its channel for at least a week.

TikTok updates privacy policy for young users

After facing repeated flaks for its adverse impact on teenagers, TikTok has now decided to privacy policy for young users. Starting today, default privacy setting of users between 13-15 age will be ‘private.’ This means that only those followers approved by users can check their videos. Additionally, TikTok is also blocking the ability to download videos created by 15 or above.

After years of endless speculation, world’s most valued carmaker Tesla has finally arrived in India. The Elon Musk led company has officially registered an Indian subsidiary. The EV car manufacturer will also soon set up R&D center in India’s IT capital Bengaluru.
