Apple is reportedly developing ‘LLM Siri’ that will compete with ChatGPT & Gemini

According to sources, Apple is working on creating a LLM model that will power its virtual assistant Siri. This LLM model has been dubbed as ‘LLM Siri,’ which aims to further increase the capabilities of the virtual assistant. The LLM Siri is likely to be rolled out alongside IOS 19 and macOS 16 in 2025. However, Apple users may have to wait until spring 2026 for a full-fledge roll out. LLM is expected to help Siri in commanding more natural and conversational interactions, alongside handling complex tasks. LLM Siri will be integrated with broader AI features from Apple Intelligence, a native AI system launched by Apple earlier this year.

Amazon increases stake in Anthropic with $4 Bn investment

Jezz Bezos led Amazon has double down its investment in generative AI startup Anthropic with fresh $4 Bn investment. Following this investment, Amazon’s total investment in Anthropic now stands at around $8 bn. This move signifies a win-win situation for both players. Anthropic will get to utilize AWS’s Trainium and Inferentia chips for training and deploying its foundational models. On other hand, Amazon will get consolidate its position in the generative AI industry that is dominated by players like Google and OpenAI. Over the years, Anthropic has established itself as a strong player in the Generative AI space with its Claude Family model, which includes models like Claude 3.5 Sonnet, Claude 3.5 Haiku and Claude 3 Opus.

Microsoft launches Recall AI feature for Windows 11 Copilot Plus Pcs

Users can now try Microsoft’s Recall AI feature on a Copilot Plus PC. It is at present available for Windows 11 Copilot Plus Pcs. Recall AI captures snapshots of user activity on their PCs, creating a searchable timeline of their past actions. This makes it easier for users to retrieve past activities, applications, or websites by using natural language queries. This launch of this feature was delayed few months back due to privacy concerns raised by the users. To address the privacy concerns, Microsoft has made this feature optional, which means that Copilot Plus Pc users will have to manually activate this feature. Microsoft has also ensured that snapshots will be stored locally and encrypted and won’t capture sensitive information such as passwords and credit card details.

Threads set to launch AI-powered summaries of trending topics

Taking inspiration from X, Meta’s Threads has launched a new AI feature that will generate summaries for trending topics. Users can access this feature in the ‘Trending now’ section. The new feature aims to provide concise overviews of popular discussions, similar to the summaries offered by X (formerly Twitter). Currently, this feature will only be available to the users in the US market.
