Apple’s Big Plans for India, Will Start Domestic Productions
Apple has not been able to capture the Indian market like it did in the rest of the world. One of the major concerns in the minds of Indian consumers was the high price of Apple products. The import duties were eating into the profits of the company. Finally, Foxconn the firm that builds Apple products in Asia is going to set a local unit in India soon. With $300 million investment from Foxconn, the prices of iPhones will drastically come down once the production of phones starts in India. The price conscious Indian market might again lean towards the iPhone mania. Today, Apple pays 20% import duties, once it establishes its manufacturing unit in India it will save on those customs duties and will also start opening its own stores in the country. Link.
