Bookmybai Scoops up Pre-series A funding from Japanese investors

Bookmybai, which help households to hire maids through its online platform, has secured undisclosed amount in pre-series A funding round. The round was led by Japan based social venture fund Arun Seed, along with other Japanese angel investors. Identity of these angel investors has not been disclosed.

Anupam Sinhal, Bookmybai’s co-founder, said that the company will soon launch a multi-lingual app for catering India’s regional markets. Currently, company offers services in Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Surat and Kolkata.

Bookmybai raises undisclosed amount in pre-series A funding.

Following the latest funding, the company will look to increase market share in all these existing markets as well as launch operations in Delhi and Hyderabad, Sinhal added.

Arun Seed’s President, Satoko Kono, expressed confidence that the investment will not help in supporting sustainable startup, but also creating lasting social impact across rural households.

Founded in 2015, Bookmybai offers maids for sundry activities like cooking, babysitting, cleaning and helping senior citizens. The company had earlier raised Rs 1 crore in seed funding from 50k ventures.

India’s increasing internet penetration does give hope to companies like Bookmybai. However, India’s maid market is highly unorganized and creating dent in any unorganized market is never easy.
