Disney to soon crackdown on password sharing
Disney has announced that it is actively exploring ways to address the password sharing problem. Disney’s CEO Bob Iger said that the company will soon update its sharing policies later this year. The company, however, refused to disclose currently how many users are sharing the passwords and how much loss it is bearing due to this problem. In all likelihood, Disney may start crackdown on password sharing in early 2024. Earlier this year, Netflix became the first major streaming platform to crackdown on password sharing. Netflix now charges from its users an extra fee for sharing their accounts with someone outside of their household.

Slack unveils its biggest redesign till date
Work productivity platform Slack has just announced a major redesigning update. As per these new design updates, Slack users will get a new home section that will be central hub of all the activities. Users will also get a left sidebar that will prove quick access to all the channels and direct messages. A DMs section similar to the one in Microsoft Teams will also be introduced. In addition to all these changes, Slack has made other improvements in its app, like a search bar that’s always visible and a new way to save messages and files for later. Slack is hoping that these design changes will make users more productive at the workplace.

Now share Threads posts directly on Instagram DMs
Meta’s new messaging platform Threads now lets users to share their posts directly to Instagram DMs. To share a Threads post to Instagram DMs, you simply need to tap the “Send on Instagram” button below the post. This will open up a new DM conversation with the person or group you want to share the post with. Additionally, users will also get a ‘mention button’ that will allow users to easily mention someone’s account in a thread. Meta is likely to introduce many such new features on Threads in coming weeks or months to retain its userbase. Threads has lost more than half of its users since its blockbuster launch last month.

Apple sued by Gizmodo’s editor (here’s why)
Dan Ackerman, the editor-in-chief of Gizmodo, has filed a lawsuit against Apple along with the Tetris Company, and screenwriter Noah Pink. The lawsuit alleges that the Apple TV+ film “Tetris” illegally copied the plot and characters from his book “The Tetris Effect: The Game That Mesmerized the World. Ackerman is seeking at least $4.8 million in damages from the defendants, as well as a declaration that the film infringes on his copyright. He is also asking the court to prevent the defendants from distributing or exploiting the film in any way. Apple has not yet responded to the lawsuit.

Search warrant was issued for Trump’s Twitter account
A search warrant was issued for Donald Trump’s Twitter account in January 2023 by a federal judge in Washington, D.C. The warrant was issued as part of an investigation by a special counsel into Trump’s role in the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol. The warrant authorized Twitter to provide the special counsel with “data and records” relating to Trump’s Twitter account, including his tweets, direct messages, and other communications. Twitter reportedly resisted the warrant but eventually complied with the court’s order. Trump’s supporters and allies have criticized the news report of search warrant, accusing the Washington Court jude of being politically biased.
