Elon Musk’s Brain Implant Startup Neuralink (quietly) raises $43 Mn

Neuralink, the Elon Musk led startup Neuralink has raised $43 Mn in a latest funding round, according to company’s SEC filing. This funding is part of the earlier funding round that took place in August this year. However, the company hasn’t revealed exactly at what market valuation it has raised this fund. Neuralink was recently in news for starting its first human clinical trail after it received FDA approval. But the Elon Musk led startup has equally been in news for its toxic work culture and unethical research practices. Many media reports even claim that Musk himself is encouraging these practices in the company.

ByteDance quits gaming space, shuts down Nuverse

ByteDance, the parent company behind popular Chinese app TikTok, is reportedly pulling the curtains down on its gaming brand Nuverse. Additionally, the company may even completely exit the video gaming space. This decision comes in the wake of increasing scrutiny from the Chinese regulators, who have cracked down on the gaming industry in recent months. The company is also facing several internal challenges with many employees complaining about its lack of focus and direction. Nuverse was launched in 2019 with the ambition that would help ByteDance in becoming a major brand in the gaming industry. However, despite huge investment, the brand failed to gain traction among the gamers.

Grok AI Chatbot will be launched from this week

Grok, the first AI product from Elon Musk’s company xAI, is all set for an official launch from this week. Starting from this week Grok will be made to available to select premium plus subscribers. Trained on X’s real time data, most people are excited to know how Grok performs as compared to ChatGPT and Bard. Musk has claimed that his company’s AI chatbot will prove to be a better alternative. The X’s owner especially pointed out that Grok has the ability to respond to spicy questions, something that ChatGPT, Bard and other AI chatbots can’t do.

Putin warns about West’s AI monopoly

Russian President Vladmir Putin has warned about West’s growing monopoly in the field of artificial intelligence. Speaking at an AI conference in Moscow, Putin announced that Russia will soon announce a national policy on artificial intelligence including a multi-billion-dollar investment in the field. Russian President added that West’s monopoly in AI is absolutely dangerous and unacceptable to his country. Currently, China and US are leading the AI race as both countries have invested billions of dollars in the field while Russia has remained on the backfoot. Russia’s tepid investment in AI is partially because the country has been forced to invest lot of its resources in its ongoing war against Ukraine.
