Indian e-commerce giant, Flipkart has acquired mobile and IT hardware repair company F1 Info Solutions for an undisclosed amount.
F1 Info Solutions was founded in the year 2012. It has 158 owned and franchised centres all over India. Its employee base of 10,000 people handles over 50,000 calls every month. It is a service partner of a number of leading brands like Samsung, HP, Lenovo, Sony and Asus.
F1 Info Solutions, which has a pan-India presence will be a part of Jeeves, one of the Flipkart’s ventures which provides various large and small household appliances along with furniture. Post this acquisition, Jeeves will be able to expand Flipkart’s horizon of mobile phones, IT products and consumer electronics repair services.
Recently, there was a news in the air that Flipkart is planning to use eBay India’s platform to sell second-hand and refurbished products like smartphones and other electronics. This acquisition will assist the company to amass all the phones collected from their buyback and exchange policies, repair them and make them re-sellable. It will also help Flipkart customers to walk into an F1 Info Solutions store and get their electronic devices repaired.
As a part of the deal, Shammi Moza, the Co-founder and CEO of F1 Info Solutions will be joining Flipkart as a Senior Director and will report to Abhijit Upadhye who is the head of Jeeves as well as vice president at Flipkart.
Flipkart is one of the most fastest growing E-commerce portals in India. According to Flipkart, it has bagged 70% of the overall sales during the Big Billion Days sale. Its sales have almost doubled as compared to that of the last year. It claimed to sell around 1.3 million smartphone devices within just 20 hours.
