Gautam Adani is now the world’s Third Richest man

It seems that Adani Conglomerate’s boss Gautam Adani is simply unstoppable. According to the latest Bloomberg Billionaire Index, the Gujarati businessman is now the world’s third richest man. He has now become the first ever Asian to break into the world’s top three billionaires. By reaching the third spot, Adani has overtaken Louis Vuitton boss Bernard Arnault and his fellow Indian rival Mukesh Ambani. Once a small time port operator in Gujarat, over the years his conglomerate has earned fortunes by dabbling into various businesses including airport operations, gas distribution, data storage, green energy, palm oil and many other businesses.

Meta is bringing NFTS to Facebook

Just a few weeks back Meta had rolled out NFTS or digital collectibles on its photo sharing platform Instagram. Now it has expanded the same feature to Facebook as well. This means that now Instagram users can cross-post their NFT posts to Facebook and vice versa. It is still not clear whether NFT posting or cross-posting on Facebook will be available in all markets or limited markets. However, Meta’s timing of NFT expansion may not be the best possible time, with the NFT market considerably cooling down during the last few months. According to Forbes, trading volumes on NFT marketplace OpenSea have dropped by a whopping 90%  during the past few months.

Get ready for grocery shopping on WhatsApp

After making UPI payments, it is now time for doing some grocery shopping on WhatsApp. In a first such move by Meta, the company has joined hands with Reliance Jio to launch online grocery services JioMart on its instant messaging platform WhatsApp. The official date of this high-profile launch has not been announced. In all probability, the launch will most probably happen in a beta-testing phase. Notably, it will be the first time ever that WhatsApp will be launching an e-commerce feature anywhere in the world. Meta, by the way, owns a minority stake in Reliance Jio. Other two tech giants Microsoft and Google also own minority stake in Mukesh Ambani led venture.

Elon musk’s mother still sleeps in a garage

Elon Musk’s mother May Musk has made a bizarre claim that she still has to sleep in a garage whenever she pays a visit to her billionaire son in Texas. May Musk told American media that ‘one can’t have a fancy house near a rocket site,’ hinting about the humble accommodation that Musk owns near the SpaceX site. By Musk’s own admission, he still doesn’t own a house and still continues to sleep at a friend’s house. All these claims seem bizarre and even a PR stunt, especially considering that today Musk is the richest man in the entire world.  Musk’s personal wealth is estimated to be $240 Bn, according to Forbes.

Sequoia Capital has become the latest private equity investor to sell stake in the foodtech sector Zomato. With this stake sale, Sequoia has reduced its stake from 6.41% to 4.4% in the foodtech major. Notably, VC giant Tiger Global had also partially sold its stake in the foodtech major barely a few weeks back. Having gone public last year, Zomato’s shares are currently trading nearly 60% below its IPO price.
