Google DeepMind unveils Genie 2 that can generate real-time & interactive 3D world from single prompt.

Google’s AI arm DeepMind on Wednesday launched Genie 2, a successor to its earlier model Genie that was launched earlier this year. Genie 2 can generate an interactive, real-time 3D scene from a single image and text description. But what’s really good about Genie 2 is that it allows you to create diverse types of 3D scenes including action-oriented scenes like jumping and swimming and even real-time simulations like animations, lighting or object interactions. Another noteworthy feature of Genie 2 is its Long Horizon Memory, which allows you to remember and accurately render parts of the world that are no longer in view.

Threads now enables users to follow Fediverse accounts directly within the app.

Meta’s microblogging platform Threads has just launched a new feature that allow its users to follow accounts from Mastodon and other fediverse platforms directly within the Threads app. This means users can now view Mastodon posts on their timeline and even interact with them just like they would with any other Threads user. However, this integration comes with few limitations. For instance, Threads users cannot currently search for users on other servers. This means they can only follow accounts that have already interacted with them on Threads. nonetheless, this is a welcome integration as it strengthens Threads’ integration with the decentralized social media ecosystem.

OpenAI is inching closer to officially launch Sora, its text-to-video model

According to unconfirmed sources, OpenAI is poised to launch Sora, its highly anticipated text-to-video model, very soon. Starting December 5, the company will kick off a series of livestreams dubbed “12 Days of OpenAI,” during which new features and demos are expected to be announced, including Sora and a new reasoning model. Currently being tested by a select group of visual artists & designers, Sora can generate realistic and engaging short video clips based on text prompts. However, the prolong delay in launch of Sora has allowed other competitors like Runway, Pika and Luma to gain significant traction in the AI video generation space.

Spotify Wrapped 2024 includes an AI-powered podcast using Google’s NotebookLM

Spotify has officially launched its Spotify Wrapped 2024. However, this year’s Wrapped will also include a AI Podcast. The Wrapped AI podcast will feature two AI hosts that will discuss users’ favorite songs, artists, and genres based on their listening data. Spotify has collaborated with Google’s NotebookLM to offer this podcast feature. The AI podcast is accessible to both free and Premium users in English across several countries, including the U.S., U.K., Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Ireland, and Sweden. Users can listen to their personalized podcast directly from the Wrapped feed on Spotify’s app.
