Google launches ‘Chromebook Plus’ to identify high-quality Chromebooks

Google on Tuesday launched Chromebook Plus, a new certification program that will help consumers identify high-quality Chromebooks. Chromebooks that meet certain hardware and software requirements will be awarded the Chromebook Plus certification. This includes requirements like Intel Core i3 or AMD Ryzen 7000 processor, 1080p webcam, 8GB RAM, 128GB storage and IPS display with a resolution of at least 1920×1080 pixels. Chromebooks that meet these requirements will also get access to a few exclusive features such as Magic Eraser tool in Google Photos, improvements to lighting and noise cancellation in video conferencing and Offline File Sync, which automatically downloads files from Google Drive onto the device. The first batch of Chromebook Plus certified laptops are expected to available in the market in late 2023.

Popular short video app TikTok has confirmed that it is testing ad-free subscription tier in one of the markets outside the United States. However, the company hasn’t revealed the name of this market nor has it disclosed about the subscription price. TikTok, which has nearly 1 billion active users, greatly depend on advertising revenue for earning profit. Off late, the company has been on an experimental mode in order to boost its revenue. It recently launched shopping features in the app for generating extra-revenue through e-commerce. By the way, ad free plan will certainly help in improving the user experience of TikTok users. However, only time will tell whether or not TikTok will launch an ad-free subscription tier.

Paris Hilton inks commercial deal with Elon Musk’s X

Popular celebrity icon Paris Hilton’s media company 11:11 has signed a content and commerce deal with Elon Musk’s X, formerly known as Twitter. As per this agreement, Hilton will host four original video content programs per year on X including live shopping features. She will also serve as a launch partner for launching X’s new products, services and feature releases. What really makes this deal unique is the inclusion of live shopping feature, which clearly indicates that X is soon venturing into E-commerce. The exact financial and commercial details of the deal have not been disclosed. Since Hilton is a global icon with millions of followers on the social media platforms, inking deal with her is most likely to benefit X.

Google may launch Android 14 this week

According to a report by 9to5Google, Android 14 is rumored to be released on October 4, 2023, the same day as the Pixel 8 launch at the annual Made by Google event. However, these are rumors and Google has not officially confirmed these rumors. Android 14 is currently in beta testing and comes with new features and improvements, such as better battery life, enhanced security, and new customization options. Even if Google does not unveil Android 14 on October 4, its official launch is most certain by end of 2023. Made by Google event is a annual event where Google showcase its latest hardware products like smartphones and laptops. At this year’s event, Google is expected to showcase Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro along with Pixel Watch 2 & Pixel Buds Pro 2.
