Google’s Loon Project Goes Bust
Google’s ambitious project to provide internet to remote regions through high attitude balloons has been called off. Alastair Westgarth, CEO of Loon, announced the news in a blog post, later Google’s parent company Alphabet also confirmed the news. Inability to build sustainable business model was cited as the main reason for unceremoniously shutting down the project. Google had started the Loon project in 2012 but it was spun out as an independent company in 2019. It even secured $125 Mn funding from SoftBank.

Elon Musk to donate $100 Mn to reduce the level of CO2 in environment
World’s richest man Elon Musk tweeted on Thursday that he’ll be donating $100 Mn as prize money to anyone making an invaluable contribution towards Carbon Capture Technology. However, Tesla’s CEO did not share any further details except for the fact that he will offer more updates about this next week. This can be seen as Musk’s attempt to fight against climate change. Carbon Capture Technology essentially refers to the practice of capturing harmful carbon dioxide emitted at factories and then storing it with an aim to remove potential harmful byproducts in it. This eventually helps in mitigating the impact of climate change.

Google Threatens to pull off its services from Australia
Google has given a decree that it may very well have to quit Australia if it enforces the new controversial law.
