Grofers’ CTO Jacob Singh has resigned after completing three year stint in the company. This news was first reported by news portal Entrackr. Jacob has himself confirmed the news to Techpluto.
Replying to Techpluto’s query, Jacob said “Yes. I have resigned from Grofers. We built a great team and a really successful company. I’m damn proud of the tech team we built and I remain a friend of the founders.”
Jacob added that he is looking to branch into independent consulting and mentoring role after completing his stint with Grofers.
According to his Linkedin profile, Jacob was heading product, engineering, data, and design for the Gurugram based company. He supervised and headed the team of 50-220 people and the company saw business growth of $40 Mn- $600 Mn.
According to reports, Jacob had resigned well before the nationwide lockdown was imposed. However, the company managed to retain his service for couple more months. Jacob’s extended service may have proved to be more than handy for Grofers, since the company saw skyrocketing demand for grocery goods during the lockdown phase.
During the lockdown phase, the SoftBank backed company was reportedly involved in talks for potential merger with Zomato. Several sources also claimed that it was seeking investment from Paytm Mall. However, it now seems that these talks have hit the dead end.
In the past, Grofers valuation had taken a hit as the company failed to increase its market share. The company is currently valued at $650 Mn – 700 Mn.
