Internet Archive’s The Wayback Machine has reportedly suffered a major data breach, resulting in theft of user authentication database containing 31 million unique records. The news of data breach become all too obvious after Internet Archive’s users started seeing JavaScript alert, informing the users that the platform has suffered a data breach. The identity of the hackers is still not known apart from the fact that he is a theatre actor, according to BleepingComputer. Internet Archive has still not released an official statement over this matter.

Turkey and Russia have banned Discord

Russia and Turkey on Wednesday imposed a blanket ban on gaming focused messaging platform Discord for varied reasons. Turkish government accused the platform of promoting nudity and obscenity and added that it refused to share the IP addresses of the alleged users to the government. Russia, on other hand, banned Discord after it failed to remove content that was deemed as illegal and inappropriate by the Russian government. Discord now joins several popular US social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter (now known as X) and WhatsApp that have been banned in Russia, following Russia and Ukraine war.

Walmart is beta testing new retail focused LLM models called Wallaby LLM

According to a report published in the VenetureBeat, retail giant Walmart is extensively testing multiple LLMs among its internal employees. Dubbed as Wallaby LLM, it is reportedly trained to respond in a natural voice. Walmart has supposedly used huge amount of customer disposal at its disposal to train these LLMs. The company may integrate these LLMs into its Walmart app or retail software used at its retail store. Even well before the craze of generative AI had exploded, the retail giant has been at the forefront of leveraging AI for improving its customer service and bettering its overall services.

Instagram and Threads moderation is facing a backlash

Meta’s newly launched microblogging platform Threads saw a trending topic called ‘Thread Moderation Failures.’ This topic started trending after slew of Threads and Instagram users complained that their accounts are being deleted and restricted for apparently non-controversial reasons. Many users suggested that Instagram and Threads moderation has gone out of control. According to The Verge, Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri has said that he is directly responding to some of the complaints and is looking into the matter with great urgency. There are some speculations that Instagram and Threads may have increased its moderation due to the ongoing election in the US.
