British car maker Jaguar recently showcased its new electric concept SUV named I-PACE in Los Angeles Auto show which it expects to start production in the year 2018. It’s a brand new electric SUV model which has a 5-door design and can give a mileage of 310 kilometres for a 50KW DC charge and can ramp up from 0-60 mph in less than 4-seconds. The design of I-PACE somewhat resembles Tesla Model X and has a sportive look with a broad-rear end and sleek front side. The rear end has been designed to facilitate maximum boot space and the car is very spacious inside. It also has a huge cockpit which is designed especially for sports lovers.
Super-efficient Charging:
Also the car is engineered for maximum power efficiency and it hosts a 50kW DC charging mechanism which can get a full charge from 0% to 80% in less than 90 minutes. The car will be powered with liquid cooled battery pack of 90-kWH lithium-ion which can assure a driving range of 300+ miles. The battery is positioned to improve interior space and overall balance of the car.
Stylish Design:
The car is designed with a stylish cockpit that has two large touch screens and is integrated with a digital instrument cluster display. Jaguar has termed this attractive cockpit design as flight-deck to allure sports lover. Jaguar is already enjoying a massive surge in sales of its new F-Pace SUV. The car is designed using the concept of compact electric powertrains such that usual space occupied by engine and transmission is reduced to push the seats forward. The car has a heavily curved front glass and a steep windshield with shorter overhangs that gives it’s a sportive look. Also the inside is very spacious with lot of leg room for the passengers. The car also has a full length glass roof which makes it lot more stylish and sportive. The car hosts a 10-inch touch screen in centre and 12-inch virtual instrument cluster which gives the stylish cockpit feel for the driver. Other fancy features of the car’s design include micro-LED lights which are implanted in the panoramic glass roof top and massive 23-inch alloy wheels.
Excellent pickup:
The car is powered by dual electric motors, one in the front and other in rear which lay between the wheels in order to maximum interior space and ground clearance. Together the engines produce a torque of 516 pound-feet and 400 horsepower which can push the vehicle from 0-60 mph in less than 4 seconds. But there are chances that some of these fancy features can get dropped once the car moves into production.
The engineers at Jaguar have focused a lot of the sleek aerodynamics of the design to make the car more stylish including the side skirts which can channel air efficiently and the sleek front end with drag-reducing door handles. I-PACE will be a big competitor for similar electric SUVs from Porsche, Bentley, Audi, Aston Martin, Rolls-Royce, Maserati, Lamborghini and more.
