Meta is planning more job cuts by March
Facebook’s parent company Meta is likely to announce fresh round of lay off before the end of March, according to latest media reports. However, it is not yet clear about the number of employees and departments that will be affected by the upcoming layoffs. In November last, Meta had announced that it will lay off 11,000 employees or 13% of its total global workforce. This was the biggest layoff in Meta’s two-decade old history. Embroiled in several high-profile scandals and tough times caused by transition to Metaverse, investors have been pressurizing Meta to opt for cost-cutting measures. The increasing competition especially from TikTok and Facebook’s apparent struggle to increase its active user base has put additional pressure on the company.

After Bing, Opera all set to integrate ChatGPT
Opera has now become the latest web browser to embrace the ChatGPT rage. Opera said that it plans to integrate a feature called “Shorten” that will leverage ChatGPT to create quick summaries of articles and webpages. As and when this feature is made public, the icon will be publicly visible to the right side of the address bar. The feature is likely to be activated in the coming weeks but initially may be available only for limited set of users. Google Photos is crashing in Apple’s IOS (Here’s Why)
If you own an iPhone and frequently use Google Photos then you should preferably postpone updating to IOS 16.3.1. At least for the moment. There has been outpouring of complaints on the social media platform that the latest IOS update is not compatible with Google photos, leading the app to crash as soon as it is opened. IOS 16.3.1 update was released only few hours back. Google has so far not responded on this matter. But an official statement from Google is expected anytime soon.

Twitter delays the rollout of Paid API (again)
Developers will have to few more days or weeks for Twitter’s paid API. According to media reports, the microblogging platform has once again delayed the rollout of its much-awaited paid API. Twitter was supposed to cut the access to free APIs on February 9th but has now postponed the cutoff date to February 13th. Twitter’s owner Elon Musk hasn’t spoken much about the paid API apart from the fact that the company will charge $100 per month and will extensively use $100 to deal with bot abuse. Ever since taking over Twitter’s ownership, Musk has been on a overdrive to focus on microblogging platform’s monetization and increase its revenue.

India’s insurance startup InsuranceDekho raises $150 Mn
Insurance startup InsuranceDekho has scooped up $150 Mn in Series A funding round, this being the largest ever series A round by an Indian Insurance company. the round saw the mix of equity & debt and was led by high-profile names like Goldman Sachs Asset Management and TVS Capital Funds. Investcorp, Avataar Ventures and LeapFrog Investments were among other investment firms that participated in the funding round. InsuranceDekho was launched by online car aggregator CarDekho to streamline the process of reviewing and comparing car & health insurance.
