Microsoft preparing new AI model to challenge Google & OpenAI
According to a report published by The Information, Microsoft is currently working on a new, large-scale AI language model called MAI-1. MAI-1 will compete directly with Google’s Gemini and OpenAI’s ChatGPT. The report further claims that this LLM model will have total 500 billion parameters and the project will be overseen by DeepMind’s former co-founder Mustafa Suleyman. Microsoft has reportedly already dedicated large server clusters with Nvidia GPUs for training the AI models. While the reports are still emerging, one thing is sure that MAI-1 will be “far larger” than Microsoft’s previous, open-source models, likely indicating a more powerful and expensive system.
