Mistral launches new AI model ‘Codestral Mamba’ for faster and efficient code generation

Paris based AI startup Mistral, which has gained reputation for releasing powerful open source LLM models, has just added a new AI model to its growing family of LLM models. Microsoft’s recent hiring of slew of top executives from AI startup inflection AI including its co-founder Mustafa Suleyman has triggered investigation from UK’s competition watchdog, the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA). CMA will especially look into whether Microsoft has stifled the competition in the AI sector by hiring most of the inflection AI’s staff. It will also look into if this move qualifies for a merger under the UK law, though technically Microsoft has not technically acquired inflection AI. It looks more of an acquihire than acquisition. The British competition watchdog is still in the initial phase of the investigation and will decide by September whether to go ahead with more in-depth probe in this matter.
