OpenAI says it will allow users to customize ChatGPT   

OpenAI, the company behind the viral chatbot ChatGPT, said on Thursday that it is currently working on an upgrade that will allow the users to customize its viral chatbot. However, it did not clarify that this upcoming feature will be made available in the free version or newly launched paid version. The San Francisco based company is hopeful that this will propel ChatGPT to accommodate diverse views and resist accepting opinions that are biased or polarizing opinions. This announcement comes barely days after several media reports claim that Microsoft’s newly updated search engine, powered by ChatGPT, is providing answers that are potentially dangerous and that the technology is not yet ready for mass adoption.

YouTube appoints a new CEO

There is going to be change of guards in Google owned streaming giant YouTube. YouTube announced on Thursday that its long-time serving CEO Susan Wojcicki will be stepping down. Wojcicki will be replaced by another insider and long-term employee Neal Mohan, who has been with Google since 20008. Mohan is believed to have played a key role in the success of YouTube Shorts, which directly competes with TikTok.

In a First, Twitter to soon allow cannabis ads in U.S.

Twitter on Wednesday said that it will soon allow cannabis ads on its platform in the U.S., becoming the first social media platform to do so. Notably, other popular social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram and TikTok pursue a “no cannabis advertising policy” since pot remains legally banned in the most U.S. states. However, over the years more and more U.S. states have given nod to the sale of recreational cannabis and till now 21 U.S. states have given a green signal. Twitter’s decision to allow cannabis ads on its platform will come as a big boost to the cannabis industry. The microblogging platform said it will permit cannabis companies to advertise as long as they fulfil all the important criteria including having proper license and not targeting people below the age of 21 years.

Meta Increases Mark Zuckerberg’s Security Allowances

Meta may be currently going through tough times but this stopped the company from increasing the security allowance given to its CEO and Co-founder Mark Zuckerberg. Meta has said in its SEC filing that it is increasing the security allowance of Mark Zuckerberg and its family members from $4 Mn to $14 Mn, citing that the sporadic increase in the budget is appropriate and necessary under the current circumstance. This announcement comes barely months after Meta announced laying off of nearly 10,000 employees as part of the cost-cutting measure to cope with the ongoing economic recession.

Apple’s Mixed Reality Headset set to Premier at WWDC in June

 

Apple’s much talked about mixed reality headset has now got a new launch date. According to latest Bloomberg, the tech giant is now planning to premier its mixed reality headset at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June. The company was supposed to launch its mixed reality headset, which will be tentatively called Reality Pro, in April but reportedly some hardware and software issues forced the company to push the launch date from April to June. Although Apple has not yet confirmed the price of the device, sources claim that the device is likely to be sold with a heavy price tag of $3000. Sources further claim that Apple’s mixed reality headset is likely to boost capabilities and features that are not found in Meta’s Quest Pro.
