OpenAI wants to make its own AI Chips

ChatGPT-owner OpenAI is exploring the possibility of creating its own AI chips so it does not have to rely on third party vendors for purchasing chips. According to sources, OpenAI’s CEO Sam Altman has even discussed the possibility of acquiring an AI chip making company. It is also exploring the option of working more closely with chip maker Nividia and also diversifying suppliers beyond Nvidia. Since 2020 OpenAI has been constructing its powerful AI applications like ChatGPT and Dall-E 3 with the help of thousands of GPU processors supplied by Nividia. Although making and designing AI chips is very expensive and also involves complex process, it will give OpenAI a greater control and will also reduce company’s overall cost in the long run.

Microsoft releases new, faster Microsoft Teams app for Windows & Mac

Starting from today Microsoft Teams’ new and improved version will be available to all Window and Mac users. The all-new Microsoft Teams can be downloaded from Microsoft’s official website. The newer version has been designed to improve the overall speed and performance of the app. For instance, in the newer version users can start and join the meeting significantly faster than the older version. It can also handle large teams and files more efficiently. Additionally, it offers new dark mode that is easier on the eyes, as well as other customization options so users can tailor the app to their likings and preferences. Last but not least, the newer version of Teams is up to two times faster while it consumes 50 percent less memory.

Apple planned to replace Google with DuckDuckGo as Default Search

According to a report by Bloomberg, Apple had held talks with privacy focused search engine DuckDuckGo in 2018 and 2019 for replacing Google and making it as the default search engine for Safari’s private mode. Switching to DuckDuckGo would have perfectly complimented Apple’s privacy policy and would have reduced its reliance on Google search engine. However, Apple ultimately decided against the switch probably because DuckDuckGo’s search results are not as comprehensive or accurate as Google’s, and many users may have been unhappy with the change. Additionally, Apple could have been concerned about the potential financial impact of ditching Google. Every year Google pays Apple billions of dollars each year to be the default search engine on Safari.

Instagram is currently beta testing a new feature that would allow users to share their stories with multiple audience lists. This feature would allow users to share Stories only with specific groups of friends and people in the future. This would ultimately give users more control over who sees their Stories and allow them to tailor their content to specific audiences. This feature would be specifically helpful for companies and influencers, who usually have a variety of diverse audiences that they want to reach with their content. For instance, a company might want to develop a list of customers who have recently made a purchase so that they can share exclusive content with them. However, Instagram hasn’t given any exact timeline when it plans to launch this feature.

At its annual ‘Made by Google’ event Google announced that it is adding an AI chatbot to its health & fitness app Fitbit. This AI chatbot will be launched early next year and, as per Google, it has potential to become a valuable tool for fitness enthusiasts. For instance, it can set realistic fitness goals, track users progress over time, Identify areas where they need to improve and even develop personalized workout plans. Additionally, Google claimed that this AI chatbot can take the role of a personal mentor, which will be especially useful for people who are new to fitness or who are struggling to reach their goals.
