RCS support is coming to iPhone next year

In a rather surprising move, Apple has announced that RCS support will be coming to iPhones next year. This is a significant development, as it will mean that iPhone users will finally be able to enjoy the same level of messaging features as Android users. RCS, or Rich Communication Services, is a messaging protocol that offers a number of advantages over SMS, including support for high-quality images and videos, typing indicators, and read receipts. Apple’s decision arrives amid growing pressure from regulators as well as from its direct competitors including Google. Apple may have also taken the decision as RCS has become immensely popular platform and also more matured compared to the past.

IBM suspends Adverting on ‘X’ (Here’s why)

IBM on Thursday announced that it has immediately suspended all advertising on X after media reports claimed that its ads were placed next to pro-Nazi content on the platform. The pro-Nazi content included content like swastikas, holocaust denial, and calls for violence against Jews. In a statement released to the media, IBM said that it can’t associate with such hateful content. IBM has become the latest company to suspend advertising on X over hateful content. In October, Adidas and Discovery had suspended advertising on the platform. X, on other hand, has assured that it is committed to remove hate speech from the platform. However, X has been criticized for its slow response to reports of hate speech and for its lack of transparency.

Meta unveils AI based Video Editing Tools

Meta on Thursday launched two new AI tools for video editing that can be used for posting on Instagram and Facebook. The first tool, called Emu Video, generates four-second video clips from a prompt of a caption, photo, or an image paired with a description. The second tool, called Make-A-Video, is a more powerful video editing tool that allows users to create longer videos from scratch. The tool uses AI to generate realistic video sequences from text descriptions. Both these AI tools are still in beta stage. As and when these tools are released, they are likely to change the way people create and share videos on all Meta platforms

OpenAI plans to launch exclusive ChatGPT app for classrooms and schools

OpenAI’s Chief Operating Officer, Brad Lightcap, recently said in a conference in San Francisco that the company will soon form a special team to explore the possibility of launching a dedicated ChatGPT app for the educational sector. OpenAI’s COO added that more and more teachers are trying to figure out ways to integrate ChatGPT into their curriculum and how it might help them in their teaching. However, it has been found that several teachers have been hesitant in openly using ChatGPT in classrooms due to fear that   students might use it for cheating on their homework and assignments. In fact, many teachers have complained that ChatGPT is making students lazy.

You can now buy Hyundai cars on Amazon

Amazon and Hyundai have announced a partnership that will see Hyundai vehicles sold online through Amazon’s website starting in 2024. Customers will be able to shop for, equip, and buy a Hyundai car at Amazon.com and schedule delivery through a local Hyundai dealer. Initially, this partnership will begin only in the United States and later will be expanded to other countries. This partnership apparently entails win-win situation for both companies. It will help Amazon in expanding its reach into the automotive industry, which is one of the largest retail markets in the world. As for Hyundai, it is a way to reach a wider audience of potential customers and make it easier for people to buy its cars.
