Reddit raises $116 Mn in an extended series E round

Reddit has added a fresh tranche of $116 to its series E round, which it had announced earlier this month.  With the latest funding, Reddit’s total series E fundraise amount has now reached to $367 Mn. As per the SEC filings, cited by various news reports, Reddit is aiming to raise $500 Mn through series E round.  The company was recently in spotlight due to host of issues, from resignation of its co-founder Alexis Ohanian to subreddit’s critical role in propelling the stock price of GameStop.

Facebook reached a last gasp deal with the Australian government, with the latter agreeing to make amendment in upcoming proposed bills that enforces companies like Facebook to pay for sharing news on their platform. With the amendment, the proposed bill is likely to be less arbitrary in forcing big tech companies to pay-up for the news.

SpaceX’s latest $850 Mn funding has been officially confirmed through its SEC filings that was published on Tuesday. Interestingly, SpaceX, including a rather out-spoken Elon Musk, has kept absolutely mum on its latest funding. As per the SEC filing, the latest fundraising has valued the company at around $74 Bn.

To compete with Chrome, Mozilla beefs up its privacy feature

To make its browser more appealing for privacy-sensitive people, Mozilla has now added enhanced cookie protection to its FireFox 86 version. The new updated security feature will give Mozilla’s users enhanced cookie protection while visiting multiple sites. It must be noted that over the years Mozilla has lost substantial market share to Google’s Chrome, which has often been accused of abusing its users privacy by tracking their cookies.
