Susan Wojcicki, the former YouTube CEO, has passed away
Susan Wojcicki, the woman who is often credited for making YouTube a money spinner for Google, has passed away at the age of 56. She succumbed to Lung cancer, after having fought a grim battle against it for nearly two years. Wojcicki played a key role in Google’s evolution – from the days when the company operated from a small garage to witnessing it to becoming one of the biggest tech giants in the world. She is often considered to be the architect behind YouTube’s stellar success, playing a key role in encouraging Larry Page and Sergey Brin to buying the video streaming platform way back in 2006. In 2022, when she stepped down as the YouTube CEO, YouTube had contributed nearly $29 billion in revenue, making it roughly 10% of Google’s entire revenue.

TikTok and Pinterest has inked a deal with Amazon for in-app shopping
According to The Information, Amazon has teamed up with TikTok and Pinterest that will users on both these platforms to shop for Amazon products but without leaving the app. Users have to click on Amazon ad, which will eventually take the buyers to Amazon interface that will them the product details and also allow them to make payments. However, there is a catch. To enjoy this feature, TikTok and Pinterest users will have to integrate their social media accounts with their Amazon account. Kindly note that none of the companies have confirmed this news yet. Nonetheless, this news still comes as a surprise especially in the context of TikTok. The video sharing app has been trying to boost its e-commerce business by offering live shopping feature in North America.

Microsoft will be Discontinuing Paint 3D app from November
From November 2024, Window users may no longer be able to access Paint 3D app on any of the Window devices. Microsoft has reportedly decided to retire the app due to its declining user base. Rolled out in 2017, the Paint 3D app offered users the ability to create and edit 3D models with ease. However, despite its many innovative features, it failed to gain widespread adoption among the Window users. Many saw this development imminent as Microsoft had already removed the 3D app from its default list on Windows. It will continue to encourage to update its classic paint app and propel users to explore advanced 3D designing software.

Meta Researchers create a AI 3D Creation Tool ‘VFusion 3D’
Meta researchers and University of Oxford have jointly created in what appears to be a pretty powerful AI model for generating highly-quality 3D objects. The AI model is called ‘VFusion 3D.’ It can create highly-quality 3D objects from a single image or text description within few seconds. Unlike the existing Ai models, VFusion 3D has taken a different route for creating 3D images. It combines video diffusion models with feed forward generative models. This paves way for AI model to leverage the enormous amount of synthetic data, allowing it to create impressive 3D objects from various inputs. However, VFusion 3D is still in development stage and is not publicly available.

X now lets you sort out your Replies so Blue Check doesn’t overshadow other users’ comments
Taking cue from other social media platforms including Facebook, X will now allow users to sort replies and comments they receive on their posts. This means that they can now check out replies that they are actually interested in. Until now replies from blue check users always appeared on the top, irrespective of whether users are actually interested or not. But now going forward, users can sort out replies based on most relevant, most liked and most recent. This feature will be especially handy for users with thousands and millions of followers, who usually get hundreds of replies on each post.
