Microsoft sees sporadic increase in cloud services; courtesy: social distancing

Social distancing caused in the aftermath of coronavirus outbreak has spelt good news for Microsoft cloud computing services. The tech giant said that its cloud services have seen a whopping increase of 775% especially in those regions where lockdown and social distancing have been strictly imposed. According to Microsoft Azure blog post, cloud computing products that have seen sporadic increase include Microsoft Teams, Xbox Game Pass, Xbox Live and Windows Virtual Desktop.

Latest OnePlus 8 Leaks are all about colors

Latest OnePlus 8 leaks are out but this time leaks don’t deal with specs. Instead the latest leaks have chosen to indulge mostly in colors and only colors. Well-known tech enthusiast Ishan Agarwal has posted the images of OnePlus 8 on his twitter handle that show the phone replete with wide range of colors. These colors include purplish-red one called Interstellar Glow, Glacial Green and Onyx Black. Even if you’re not an OnePlus fan, their latest offering appears pretty stunning in these colors.

Microsoft will no longer invest in face recognition startups

Announcing a major shift in its policy, Microsoft has reportedly announced that it will no longer invest in face recognition startups. The tech giant was apparently spooked by the Israeli face recognition startup AnyVision, in which Microsoft has minority stake. An investigation carried out by former U.S. attorney general found that AnyVision’s technology was being used to conduct surveillance on residents living in the West Bank.  This disclosure did not went down well with Microsoft management. It eventually chose to bid adieu to AnyVision by selling minority stake in the company.

Following backlash, Zoom will no longer share Facebook code from IOS devices

Last weekend, popular video conferencing app Zoom released an IOS update that will no longer allow the app to snoop Facebook codes from IOS devices. The company was virtually forced to bring this update after it faced backlash, following media reports that it was clandestinely sharing user information with Facebook through a code that ran on IOS devices.

A new COVID-19 test can show results in flat 5 minutes

U.S based medical device company Abbott has launched a new platform, I D Now System. The platform, which has been approved for emergency use by American FDA, can show COVID-19 test results in flat 5 minutes. Its results are actually not mandated to send to central lab for analysis.
