Google Chrome, the much abuzzed web browser by Google has again started appearing as a notification to Orkut users(whether they’re already using Chrome or not).If you’re not on Chrome then Orkut displays the message “Try Orkut in Google Chrome!”.
Since the flashy launch of the Google Browser ‘Chrome’(we compared it with IE8),it showed an inconsistent behaviour with sudden burst of Chrome’s usage in the initial months and then a gradual transition of Chrome adopters back to their previous browsers(mainly Firefox) because of plenty of bugs that Chrome had and no Add-Ons support as well(which is a big plus for Firefox).
But Chrome has already dropped ‘Beta’ tag in early december with a total of 14 updates till that time and it has recently been announced that Google Chrome will soon have a Add-On support. And despite the presence of long established web browsers such as IE and Firefox,Chrome has found its loyal audience to an extent within short span of time.
Taking these things into consideration,Google Chrome, which is currently maintaining a Global browser usage proportion of around 2% is expected to grow many folds by end of 2009(we predict it to be around 8-10%). And now when Google has re-initiated its Chrome promotional efforts through Orkut,Google’s popular social networking site, the browser’s usage will certainly undergo a boost. If someone is already on Chrome and uses Orkut then he is shown a message
Awesome, you’re using Google Chrome ! Don’t Forget to feed it Donuts !
And if somebody accesses Orkut via any other browser then he is shown a message
Try Orkut in Google Chrome !
As Orkut is one of the larget social networking sites in the World with most of its users belonging to Brazil and India,Chrome’s growth appears to be truely Global in many senses.
