Twitter’s iconic logo all set to be replaced, announces Elon Musk

Elon Musk on Sunday tweeted that he plans to change Twitter’s iconic logo of blue bird, in what appears to be the latest in the series of controversial decision for Twitter under his leadership. His tweet read that Twitter will change its logo to an “X” and that all the birds will be disappearing from the platform. However, there is still no clarity what and how this ‘X’ logo will look like. Interestingly, in April Musk had changed the name of Twitter’s parent company to ‘X Corporation.’ This clearly serve as a hint that the alphabet ‘X’ will be part of Twitter’s new logo.

OpenAI, Google, and More Vow to Embed Watermarks in AI Content

U.S. government has announced that seven tech companies including Google and OpenAI   have made voluntary commitments to several safety measures including embedding watermark in all forms of AI generated content – from text, images, and audio to videos. According to Whitehouse, this will make it easier for users to detect deepfakes and other forms of AI-generated content that possibly could be used for malicious activities. Microsoft, Meta and Amazon are other big companies that have given commitment to these safety measures. Watermarking AI content could be seen as a major step in efforts to regulate AI by the U.S. government.

Amazon is building a new satellite facility to compete with Musk’s Starlink

Jeff Bezos’ Amazon is building a new state-of-the-art satellite processing facility in Florida as part of its Project Kuiper initiative. Built at the cost of $120 Mn, this facility will be located at the Space Florida’s Launch and Landing Facility (LLF) at Kennedy Space Center. Mostly probably after 2024, Project Kuiper plans to launch low orbiting satellites, which will provide satellite internet services across the world. It will compete directly with Elon Musk’s company Starlink, which is already a major player in the satellite internet market. Amazon’s new satellite processing facility is expected to be complete by 2024.

OpenAI’s ChatGPT to debut on Android this week

Nearly two months after its launch on IOS, ChatGPT will be finally available on Android devices from July 25. You can pre-order the app in the Google Play Store now. The Android version of ChatGPT will offer the same features as the iOS version, including the ability to have conversations with the AI chatbot, create stories, and answer your questions in an informative way. The android version will be first launched in the U.S. and will be released later in other markets.

Meta Decides to Discontinue Quest Pro VR Headset

Meta has decided to phase out its flagship VR headset Quest Pro. The move comes as Meta is reportedly diverting its attention to more affordable Quest series, which will hit the market with the launch of Quest 3 in October this year. The Quest Pro was first launched in 2021 as Meta’s high-end VR headset and was priced at $1,500. It is still not clear why Meta has decided to axe its flagship VR headset. But the decision to cancel the Quest Pro 2 is a setback for Meta’s VR ambitions.
