Uber’s rival Lyft resorts to mass lay off
Coronavirus pandemic has ensured that the year 2020 will be season of layoffs and while Uber (like many other companies) is still in the process of planning a layoff strategy, its less illustrious rival Lyft on Wednesday made a major announcement on this front. Lyft said that it will terminate 1,000 employees or almost 17% of its total workforce. The company also plans to furlough another 288 employees, taking the total layoff number to nearly 1,300.

Google Meet is now free…all you need is a Google account
Google is opening its video conferencing service ‘Meet’ in a big way, making it completely free for anyone and everyone who wants to use it. All you need to have is a Google account to access this freebie service offer. Google account holders can create free meetings of up to 100 people that can last any amount of time. However, this free service may be available only till 30th September, after which free meeting time will be restricted to 1 hour. With this free service, Google is taking a big push to take on its more illustrious rival Zoom app.

TikTok reaches 2 billion download mark
While everything is going down the barrel during the global pandemic, TikTok is thriving and how. The popular Chinese short video app has now reached 2 billion download mark, according to analytics platform Sensor Tower. The app was downloaded 315 million times this quarter alone in the App Store and Google Play combined. However, these numbers don’t include third party app stores that are quite popular in China. If those numbers are also included then TikTok’s download numbers will spire up even further.

Microblogging giant Twitter has made whole lot easier for developers and researchers to study tweets around coronavirus. The platform has rolled out new bunch of tools that will make available millions of daily public tweets around COVID 19 to site’s developers. A piece of Moon is for sale and it costs only $2.5 million
A small piece of moon is all set to go under the hammer and will cost not more than $2.5 Mn or 2 Mn pounds. This unique auction is going to be held at Christie’s Science & Natural History Department, London. This small piece of moon rock, weighing approximately 13.5 kg, is believed to be the fifth largest piece of Lunar planet to be found on planet earth.
