As implied by its beautiful name, “Vaayu” helps people breathe pure and chilled air by delivering India’s most power-efficient Air conditioners at an unbelievable price. This innovative cooling technology named “Vaayu” has been developed and patented by Pranav Mokshmar, a 39-year old budding entrepreneur who hails from Indore.
5 years of Hard work:
Pranav had spent almost 5 years of research in developing this technology with multiple attempts of trial and error. Prior to setting up this business, Pranav had worked for more than 14 years in the field of air conditioners and he is an expert in that technology. He has a passion in experimenting new things with electronics and through his hard work and dedication; he has invented this path-breaking cooling technology.
Hybrid cooling technology blending the principles of an Air Cooler and Air-conditioner:
This hybrid cooling technology combines the principles of both an Air cooler and Air conditioner and will be able to produce same cooling effect as a normal AC but at the same time consumes just one tenth of the power when compared to normal Air conditioner. For instance, normal air conditioners consume 2,400 Watts of electricity per hour whereas this hybrid conditioner designed using Vaayu technology will consume just 250 watts per hour. Also this technology is very eco-friendly and makes use of natural air to create cooling effect unlike traditional ACs which uses harmful gases like chlorofluorocarbon (CFC), hydrofluorocarbon (HFC) etc. The hybrid cooler functions by incorporating a refrigeration cycle with help of a compressor and condenser connected to it.

Government Funding:
After patenting his idea, Pranav sought for financial assistance from the government to start his venture and received Rs. 1 crore in funding from the CGTMSE (Credit Guarantee Fund Trust for Micro and Small Enterprises) scheme of the Madhya Pradesh state government through Corporation Bank, Indore. He also received tremendous support from Shivraj Singh Chouhan, honorable chief minister of Madhya Pradesh and Vasundhara Raje Scindia, honorable chief minister of Rajasthan. With support from government and his life-time savings, Pranav founded Vaayu in October 2014 along with his wife Priyanka Mokshmar who has done her MBA and PhD in marketing. Prior to helping her husband with his business venture, Priyanka was working a professor in a business school in Indore.
5 States and Expanding:
At present they have two manufacturing plants at Sanwer Road in Indore with a team of 40 people working under them. They also have distributors in five states including Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Delhi, Uttarkhand and Maharashtra and planning to expand further. They have tested more than 100 units so far and getting bulk orders from Corporates looking for eco-friendly products. They have also set up “Vaayu experience zones” in various places to demonstrate the operation of their hybrid chiller since it’s a new concept for people. They have also developed an App named “Vaayu Samadhaan” which helps in after sales service and users can register their complaints in this App by just scanning the barcode present in their warranty cards.
The hybrid chillers are available in different sizes based on their capacity and prices start from Rs. 22, 500. Their high-end model named MIG 24 is used to cool an area of 1000 sq.ft and costs around 85, 000 rupees. A traditional AC offering the same performance would cost more than 1.5 lakhs in the market.
