WhatsApp to soon launch cross-platform Messaging Feature

There is exciting news for WhatsApp users as the Meta owned app is gearing up for cross-platform messaging with other encrypted messaging apps. This means WhatsApp users can soon chat with their friends and family who use different messaging platforms, all within the familiar interface of WhatsApp. The feature is still under development, but early signs suggest it might be released soon, potentially by March 2024. This feature will be an optional feature, which means users can choose opt out of this feature if they don’t want to receive messages from other platforms. WhatsApp has assured that its users that this feature won’t have any impact on encryption and messages will remain secure even across different platforms.

OpenAI to add watermarks to all DALL-E 3 images

OpenAI has just announced that starting from February 6th, 2024 it will starting adding new watermarks into DALL-E 3 images. The ChatGPT’s parent company said that the watermark will be a small, unobtrusive icon embedded within the image itself. This move by OpenAI is part of a larger effort to combat the potential misuse of AI-generated images. Most experts argue that watermarks can go a long way in helping to reduce the spread of deepfakes or other AI-manipulated media used for malicious purposes. Barely twenty-four hours ago, Meta also announced that it will start labeling AI-generated images on Facebook, Instagram, and Threads platforms.

Mozilla’s new service will wipe your data from Internet  

Mozilla, which owns popular browser Firefox, has just launched a new service for its browsers. Known as Monitor Plus, this new service will help browsers to automatically remove their personal information from data broker sites. Mozilla said that Monitor Plus can scan over more 190 data broker sites that are known to collect and sell personal information. If it finds your information on any of these sites, it will automatically send removal requests on your behalf. It can remove various types of data, including your name, address, phone number, email address, and birthdate. Monitor Plus is a paid subscription service. It costs $13.99 per month or $8.99 per month with an annual subscription. Currently, it’s only available to users in the United States.

Adam Neumann wants to Buyback WeWork

In a surprising news, Adam Neumann, the co-founder and former CEO of WeWork, is reportedly exploring the possibility of buying back WeWork. According to media reports, Neumann’s attorney has already sent a letter to WeWork expressing his interest in purchasing the company or its assets. WeWork, which has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in November last year, was once headed by Neumann, who was CEO of the company until 2019. He was sacked as WeWork CEO amid concerns about corporate governance and his leadership style. Many experts have dubbed WeWork’s fall as one of the biggest debacles in the startup industry and most of them blamed Neumann for this debacle.

Jack Dorsey’s BlueSky, which competes with X, is now open for public

BlueSky, founded by Twitter’s co-founder Jack Dorsey, is now open to public. This means that it is finally dropping the invite system and hence now no invite code is required to join the platform. BlueSky, which directly competes with Elon Musk’s X, comes with a decentralization twist. As per its decentralized feature, users can move their accounts, data and audience between apps on the underlying protocol. The decentralization feature will also give BlueSky users to own their data. BlueSky said that it currently boosts more than three million users and it soon plans to add developers tools to its platform. The company also said that it has already launched an IOS app in February last year.
