Windows Media Center Vs Windows Media Player

In this article there is a comparison between  windows media center and Windows media player.

Personally, I do not see any comparison between the two Media Players. Each one has its own pros and cons. Both are designed to be run on systems with Windows Operating System on it. However, Edition of Windows Media Player was also launched for Mac OS, Mac OS X and Solaris but the development has been discontinued now.

Windows Media Player is audio and video player that comes as pre-installed application with Windows Operating System. Also, You can view your pictures with WMP. Additionally, it can rip music to and from the compact discs, burn audio and video CDs, sync content with other media players and allow users to purchase songs from number of online music store.

Windows Media Player 11 comes preinstalled with Windows XP, Windows vista and Windows 7. And the latest version available in the market is Windows Media Player 12 which comes only with Windows 7.

Windows Media Player supports many format such as .3gp, .avi, .mp3, .mov, .mpeg, .wmv, .xvid. Windows Media Player also allows you to sync  iPad, iPhone and iPad with your computer. Personally, it is my choice of Media Player when it comes to playing music and watching movies on my PC.

Moving on to Window Media Center, it has quite the same features. You can play, organise and maintain your music, videos, slide shows and pictures easily over the local disk, as well as over the networked computers. Besides all this, you can view and record your favourite TV shows anytime. This is one major application, Windows Media Player is short off.

Windows Media Center can tune FM into your PC but only if your TV tuner supports it.  Now your favourite FM stations are one click away from you. With Media center on your Desktop, you can watch movies and live shows and  pause them so that you don’t miss your favourite part. But this requires you to have a TV Tuner Card installed on your PC. WMC is one easy way to turn your PC into Home Entertainment Hub. WMC is totally free for users with Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.

But what About Windows 8 user? With Microsoft introducing Windows 8 recently, they also unveiled that Windows Media Center is not going to be free anymore if user is willing to use it on Windows 8. However, a free trial version is available for download on Microsoft’s website. And we have already discussed this in our previous article ‘ How to get Windows Media Center for Windows 8?’.

Entertainment where you want. What best I found about the Windows Media Center is the feature that allows you share your recorded media over the local or home network. So if you’ve recorded a TV show on the PC in your bedroom, you can watch it on your laptop in the kitchen. And if you own an XBOX 360, you can also send the photos, videos and recorded TV shows on your PC to your TV.

Sit back, Chill, and Enjoy : Once you’ve Media Center installed on your PC, all of your photos, music, movies and variety of online media is a click away.

To conclude, Windows Media Center has a lot more to offer than Windows Media player.
